Financial Checkup

About Financial Checkup

Two things happen to almost everyone in Sweden. You end up paying too much for something — a mobile plan with data you never use, insurance that overlaps with cover you already have, a loan quietly costing more than it needs to. Or you need to choose something new, and you're staring at a dozen providers with no idea which one actually suits you.

Neither is because people are careless. It's because checking properly is tedious, and everyone who offers to help is trying to sell you something.

What we do

Financial Checkup works in two ways, depending on where you are:

Either way, we compare against real, current offers we've recorded from providers' own sites, and we tell you what fits you better and why.

The "why" is the point. Anyone can list cheaper options. We try to reason about your situation — how much data you actually use, whether you travel, whether you're over 55, whether a binding period would be a problem for you — and explain the trade-offs honestly, including the drawbacks.

How we try to be different

Independent We rank on fit, never on commission. If we ever earn from a link, we'll say so plainly — and it still won't change the ranking.
Evidence-based We don't let the AI guess prices. Every price we show comes from a provider's own published information, and we show you when we last checked it.
Transparent You always see the reasoning behind a recommendation — and the source it came from.
Respectful No pressure, no dark patterns, no account required. If nothing is worth switching, we'll tell you that too.

Where the numbers come from

This matters, so it's worth being clear about it.

We use AI to reason — to work out which option suits you and to explain it in plain language. We do not use it to invent prices. The AI only ever sees offers we have already recorded and checked. If we don't have verified data for something, we'd rather tell you that than make something up.

That's a deliberate trade-off: it means we sometimes have less to say, but what we say can be trusted.

Who is behind this

Financial Checkup is built and run by Ankur Gupta — one person, in Stockholm.

I moved to Sweden from India about two decades ago and have spent my career here working with some of the country's leading companies across telecom, retail and banking — the same industries this tool looks at. I've lived from the north of Sweden to the south, and along the way I learned the country's systems the way newcomers do: slowly, and usually by getting something wrong first.

That's really why this exists. Swedish financial products aren't hard because they're complicated — they're hard because nobody explains them without trying to sell you something. I built the tool I wish I'd had when I arrived.

It's independent, and it's not affiliated with any bank, insurer or provider.
